Hello there,
I still keep writing 2021 when I have to write down the date, because I can’t believe it’s 2022. I can’t believe we are less than two months from a full two years of living during a global pandemic. I can’t believe there’s still no clear end in sight.
Watch
I recently saw this Sam Sanders tweet and started making my way through some HBO shows I hadn’t tried before. The Other Two (HBO) is my favorite so far, and I quickly burned through the two seasons. It’s about the older siblings of a Justin Bieber-like kid who finds quick fame as a tween. It also stars Molly Shannon as their mom, who is perfectly cast. At first I found all the characters unbearably annoying, but they grow on you. And I think the second season is actually funnier than the first, with full-on belly-laughing moments, including one of the last scenes of the season finale.

When I read the synopsis of Cloud Cuckoo Land, I saw medieval Constantinople and I thought, “I’m in!” (If you’ve been reading this newsletter for awhile, you’ll notice there’s a lot of historical fiction in here.) But I was surprised to be most invested in the futuristic storyline, which has some parallels to being in quarantine. The story jumps characters in different places and time periods, with all of the characters tied together by an ancient Greek book. It’s really well written, bringing together climate change and war and the beauty of storytelling all together in a way that works. And it will make you feel a certain kind of way about owls.

Zillow Gone Wild is an Instagram account dedicated to ridiculous homes for sale on Zillow. They might be ridiculous because of awful interior design, or really weird features like a potato shed or a carpeted indoor pool room, or ridiculous mansions. But it’s always a slightly horrifying surprise to see what’s on there.
Do
I’ve been on a green juice kick recently, throwing in whatever fruits and veggies we have available into the blender every day. I’ve experimented with the different green part of the juice, and I will say this: spinach tastes better than kale. Go with spinach.
Until next time,
