Hi there,
It's lemon season again, and I have made so. many. lemon. recipes, even more than last year: lemonade, lemon cake, lemon scones, lemon curd, lemon pudding. But incredibly, I'm not sick of lemon yet. (Know of any good lemon recipes?)
Watch
I've lost patience for murder mystery show, but there are two out now that I’ve found really fun to watch.
First, there's The Law According to Lidia Poet (Netflix), based on a real person who was Italy's first female lawyer. In this fictional adaptations, she solves murders. The show is in Italian and takes place in Turin. The sets and costumes are beautiful, the script is zippy and funny, and the plot, while formulaic, is really enjoyable.
Then there's Poker Face (Peacock), which stars the always delightful Natasha Lyonne and features a different story and mystery in a different location each week. Some episodes are better than others, but it's very engrossing.
Finally, for something completely different, I finally watched something that had been on my list for a long time: Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Netflix). It's about a jaded young teacher in Bhutan who gets sent to one of the most remote schools in the country — and the world. As a viewer, his initial journey feels relatable, and the story is incredibly sweet and heartbreaking. It was shot on location, which was something of a miracle. It was nominated for an Oscar, and rightfully so.
Read
The Faraway World is a collection of short stories, mostly about Colombian immigrants living in New York, New Jersey, and Miami, with a few stories taking place in Cuba. (I almost wished the author had focused on the Colombian stories and tried to tie them together in a novel.) They're beautiful, gritty, sad, and really well written.

Adam Rippon is an Olympic figure skater who's now become a kind of pop culture icon. He recently started a series where he does a tour of different rooms in his home, or driving, or in a hotel room, or a hilarious look at him trying to cook. It's incredibly funny, and he should really have his own show.
Do
If you need a good relaxing playlist to put on in the background while you're working or cooking, I recently found the Café con Leche playlist and it's very chill.
Until next time,
