Hello there,
Happy Sunday! One of the things I’ve relied on as a coping mechanism even before the pandemic is a daily diet of cute entertainment, particularly adorable animals.
Watch
Izzy’s Koala World (Netflix) is a docuseries about an Australian family that rescues and rehabilitates koalas. It’s very much for children, but the koalas are just so, so cute, and the episodes are really short and great for pandemic-frazzled attention spans.
Spelling the Dream (Netflix) is an incredibly sweet documentary about Indian-American kids competing in a national spelling bee. The kids are really cute and it’s funny and heartwarming.
Read
To keep the escapist fantasy recommendations going, here are two reads about being transported through space and time.
What would life be like if no one remembered your face or name? The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue explores that question, following the main character from rural France in the 1700s, throughout Europe in the 1800s, and eventually to modern-day New York.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January focuses on a character who is at times trapped indoors and other times discovering fantastical ways to travel. So this really resonated during the pandemic.

Follow
One of my favorite pet Instagram accounts is a family of floofy Samoyeds and a grumpy-faced cat from Australia. And one of them just had puppies. I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen a Samoyed puppy, but they look like tiny polar bears.
Do
Seeking recommendations! Tell me about a favorite summer or beach read — it’s for a future issue. The book doesn’t have to be good or well-written; just fun and indulgent. Here’s an example.
My bandwidth is a little limited at the moment, so I’m going to start sending the newsletter once or twice a month rather than every Sunday.
Until next time,
